Tangier Carnival
The Tangier Shrine Circus Carnival was a massive indoor fun fair that included games, elephant rides, camel rides, face painting, and a petting zoo. The amusement show offered hours of entertainment. The melodic music of children’s laughter, chatter, giggles, chortles, chuckles, and hoots filled the lower levels of the Omaha Civic Auditorium.
Over 45,000
attended the Tangier Shrine Circus in 2010. The proceeds support the Tangier Shriners and the Shriners Hospitals for Children:
“Shriners Hospitals for Children is a world renowned hospital system and is known today as the “World’s Greatest Philanthropy” treating more than a half million children who have gone on to lead successful and happy lives. One of the extraordinary aspects of Shriners Hospitals is that all medical services they provide are totally without charge, and no insurance or U.S. government funds are sought or accepted for any of the medical care or services Shriners Hospitals offer. Remarkable, too, is that Shriners Hospitals presently make the single largest contribution, on a continuing basis, to the care of disabled children of any organization or private healthcare system in the United States.”

I would like to dedicate this album to the Tangier Shriners who give priceless gifts of life, love, and laughter to children. Expressing my deepest gratitude to Jack Schram for introducing me to the members of each Tangier Unit and Club, they are an inspiring organization.
